AN ACT CONCERNING SURVIVORS' BENEFITS FOR MEMBERS OF THE STATE POLICE
SUMMARY: Under prior law, the surviving spouse of a state police officer who dies from any cause before retiring from state service was eligible for a survivor's benefit until he or she remarried. The act eliminates the language that ends the benefit at remarriage, thus making it a lifetime benefit. By law, unchanged by the act, dependent children receive a benefit until age 18 or marriage, if that occurs earlier.
