2001 Committee/Commission Minutes

REAPPORTIONMENT COMMISSION (DRAFT)   MEETING MINUTES   FRIDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2001   10:00 AM in Hearing Room 2B   I.                    The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. by Speaker Moira K. Lyons.   The following members were present:                                       Nelson Brown Senators:                      Louis C. DeLuca 32; Kevin B. Sullivan 5; Joseph J. Crisco, Jr. 17; David J. Cappiello 24     Representatives:            Moira K. Lyons 146; Robert M. Ward 86; Melody A. Currey 10;                                     Arthur J. O’Neill 69   Senators: Nelson Brown Louis C. DeLuca 32 Kevin B. Sullivan 5 Joseph J. Crisco, Jr. 17 David J. Cappiello 24       Representatives:  Moira K. Lyons 146 Robert M. Ward 86 Melody A. Currey 10 Arthur J. O’Neill 69   II.                 Approval of December 20, 2001 Commission Meeting Minutes.   A motion was made by Representative O’Neill and seconded by Representative Ward to approve the December 20, 2001 Commission Meeting Minutes.  The motion was approved by a unanimous voice vote of the commission.   Speaker Lyons and Senator DeLuca and other commission members thanked each other and the staff for helping them reach a fair and balanced Congressional Plan.  They also thanked the Supreme Court Justices for extending the time for them to reach an agreement.   III.               Plan Adoption   A motion was made by Senator DeLuca and seconded by Representative Currey to adopt the 2001 Connecticut Congressional Redistricting Plan.  The motion was approved by a vote of 9 to 0 (roll call attached).    A motion was made by Senator Sullivan and seconded by Senator Crisco to adjourn the meeting.  Speaker Lyons adjourned the meeting at 10:20 a.m.      ___________________________ Sandra Forte’       REAPPORTIONMENT COMMISSION VOTE TALLY SHEET       Date:  December 21, 2001                Time:  10:00 a.m.     Commission Meeting: X                                Public Hearing: ______     Location:  Hearing Room 2B   Subject:  Connecticut Congressional Redistricting Plan 2001            Members Yea Nay Abstain Absent Sen.
