2001 Committee/Commission Minutes

REAPPORTIONMENT COMMITTEE   (DRAFT)   MEETING MINUTES   WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2001   2:00 P.M. in Hearing Room 2B   I. The meeting was called to order at 2:10 p.m. by Speaker Lyons.   The following committee members were present:   Senators: Kevin B. Sullivan 5; Louis C. DeLuca 32; David J. Cappiello 24   Representatives: Moira K. Lyons 146; Robert M. Ward 86; Melody A. Currey 10; Arthur J. O’Neill 69   II. Approval of the August 7, 2001 Committee Meeting Minutes.   Motion was made by Representative O’Neill and seconded by Representative Ward to approve the August 7, 2001 minutes. Approved by a unanimous voice vote.   III. Status of the Reapportionment Committee   Speaker Lyons stated that the committee has not come to a complete understanding to submit a report of how the legislative and congressional districts should be designed in time to meet the September 15, 2001 deadline. The reapportionment process will go to the second stage and an eight member commission will be formed that will appoint a ninth member. Lyons said it is their intent to have a redistricting plan by the November 30, 2001 deadline.    Speaker Lyons adjourned the meeting at 2:21 p.m.    ______________________ Sandra Forte’
