Planned Improvements

  • Continue to update hearing rooms for improved accessibility.
  • Continue to improve ramp access where possible.
  • Redesign and reconfigure two bathrooms on the first floor of the Legislative Office Building as accessible family bathrooms.
  • Repair and replace the outside walkway between the Legislative Office Building and the Capitol.
  • Upgrade the west entrance of the Capitol to enhance accessibility.
  • Upgrade the west entrance of the Legislative Office Building to enhance accessibility.

Completed Improvements

  • Installed a new ATM in the Legislative Office Building to comply with ADA requirements. (2026)
  • Improved ramp access around Capitol Complex. (2026)
  • Added additional signage to improve safety throughout the Capitol Complex. (2026)
  • Installed automatic door openers for restrooms. (2025)
  • Updated drinking fountains to bottle filling stations at an accessible height. (2025)
  • Replaced signs indicating accessible parking using the International Symbol of Disability, as adopted by CT legislation with Public Act No. 16-78. (2024)
  • Reconfigured intercom callboxes to ADA acceptable height. (2024)
  • Repaired and replaced sidewalks around the Capitol Complex for improved accessibility. (2024)
  • Added van accessible parking spaces outside of the Legislative Office Building. (2024)
